Community Members and Providers Invited to Grief Support Roundtable DeKalb, IL — A committee of grief support stakeholders, including the DeKalb County Community Mental Health Board, Northern Illinois Hospice, Fox Valley Hands of Hope, and the Associates in Counseling, is inviting community members and grief support providers to participate in a Grief Support Roundtable on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, from 9:00 to 11:30 a.m. The event will take place in the Five Seasons Room at the Community Outreach Building, 2500 N. Annie Glidden Road, DeKalb. The roundtable will bring together individuals with lived experience of grief, family members, service providers, and others committed to strengthening grief support in the community. Participants will engage in open discussion about current grief support services, identify unmet needs and service gaps, and explore which supports are available and effective. “Our goal is to listen,” Michelle Coovert, Community Activist, shared. “Grief affects everyone differently, and community insight is essential to understanding what supports are working, where barriers exist, and how we can improve access to compassionate, meaningful grief services.” Community participation is central to the event. Attendees are encouraged to share their perspectives, experiences, and ideas to inform future planning and collaboration on grief support services in the area. To help inform the discussion, organizers are asking both providers and community members to complete a brief survey in advance of the roundtable: • Grief Support Providers Survey: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/59YCJ9T • Community Members Survey: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/5JJGXDC Survey responses will help shape the roundtable discussion and ensure a broad range of voices and experiences are represented. The Grief Support Roundtable is open to all interested community members and professionals. There is no cost to attend. For additional information and to RSVP, community members and providers are encouraged to contact Deanna Cada, DeKalb County Community Mental Health Board, at 815-899-4960 or dcada@dekalbcounty.org
